Privacy Policy

1. General information

The Countdown Timer application is hosted on servers belonging to Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. It enables users to create a dynamic GIF countdown timer that can be embedded in an email or newsletter. When the email or newsletter is opened, the countdown timer is generated in real time.

This application is privately operated and is available as a non-commercial service.

2. Responsible person

The controller responsible for data processing is:
Michael Kieseheier
Karl-Wilker-Straße 15, 10317 Berlin, Germany
Email: support@clevertimer.org

3. Collection and processing of personal data

To create a countdown timer, you must provide an email address. This will be used exclusively for verification purposes. After entering your email address, a 6-digit code will be sent to this address to confirm the creation of the countdown.

The email is sent via the mail servers of IONOS SE. In this context, the email address provided is processed technically to enable delivery of the verification message. Processing by IONOS is based on a data processing agreement in accordance with Article 28 GDPR. We do not permanently store the email address or analyse its contents.

To secure the application and detect possible misuse (e.g. through automated requests), the IP address of the requesting device is processed briefly when the countdown timer is accessed. This measure serves to protect legitimate interests in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. There is no permanent storage or linking to other personal data.

4. Server location and data processing

The server is operated by Hetzner Online GmbH and is located in Germany. All data processing is carried out in accordance with the applicable German data protection regulations.

5. Provision of the website

When you access and use our website, personal data that your browser automatically transmits to our server is collected. The following information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the file accessed
  • Website from which access is made (referrer URL)
  • Browser used and, if applicable, the operating system of your computer, as well as the name of your access provider

Our website is not hosted by us, but by a service provider who processes the aforementioned data on our behalf in accordance with Article 28 GDPR. The processing is carried out to safeguard our overriding legitimate interest in displaying our website and ensuring security and stability on the basis of Article 6 para. lit. f GDPR. The collection of data and storage in log files is essential for the operation of the website. There is no right to object to the processing due to the exception under Article 21(1) GDPR. Insofar as further storage of the log files is required by law, processing is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(c) GDPR. There is no legal or contractual obligation to provide the data, but it is technically impossible to access our website without providing the data.

The aforementioned data is stored for the duration of the website display and, for technical reasons, for a maximum of 7 days beyond that.

6. Rights of data subjects

Under the conditions set out in the legal provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data subjects have the following rights:

  • Information pursuant to Article 15 GDPR about the data stored about you in the form of meaningful information about the details of the processing and a copy of your data;
  • Correction pursuant to Article 16 GDPR of inaccurate or incomplete data stored by us;
  • Deletion in accordance with Article 17 GDPR of the data stored by us, unless processing is necessary for exercising the right of freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;
  • Restriction of processing pursuant to Article 18 GDPR, insofar as the accuracy of the data is disputed, the processing is unlawful, we no longer need the data and you refuse to have it deleted because you need it to assert, exercise or defend legal claims, or you have lodged an objection to the processing pursuant to Article 21 GDPR;
  • Data portability pursuant to Article 20 GDPR, insofar as you have provided us with personal data within the scope of consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR or on the basis of a contract pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR and this data has been processed by us using automated procedures. You will receive your data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or we will transfer the data directly to another controller, insofar as this is technically feasible;
  • Objection pursuant to Article 21 GDPR to the processing of your personal data, insofar as this is based on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR and there are reasons for this arising from your particular situation or the objection is directed against direct marketing. The right to object does not apply if there are compelling legitimate grounds for the processing or if the processing is for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. If the right to object does not apply to individual processing operations, this is indicated there;
  • Revocation pursuant to Article 7(3) GDPR of your consent with effect for the future;
  • Complaint pursuant to Article 77 GDPR to a supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority of your usual place of residence, your place of work or our company headquarters.

No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place in individual cases.
